MRE Principal's Corner - August 23, 2024

MRE Families,

We couldn’t have asked for a better back to school week than we experienced this school year.  Everything was perfect from the students, the staff, the parents and even the weather was perfect this year!

Now that we have our first week under our belt, I wanted to pass along some important information to our families.

  • First off, if your child was in 3rd or 4th grade last year, at the end of their school year they took the Missouri MAP Assessment, measuring your child’s academic progress in reading, language, and math. The scores for these assessments will be sent home with your child the third week of school. Prior to them coming home, Mr. Musgrove and Dr. Romanchuk will be meeting with each grade to explain what their score means and how to read the report. We hope you will ask your child about the report and take a look at their academic progress. Our students worked extremely hard last year during testing and celebrating their success is a way to show why their hard work matters!

  • We offer a variety of Before School & After School Clubs at Mid Rivers Elementary that our 1st-5th grade students can be involved in.  As students get older, more clubs are available to them.  Please take a look at the Club Handbook 2024-25 and sign your students up using the links if your family is interested. Club Sponsors will reach out with starting dates and schedules after the September 4th cutoff date to enroll.

  • Our big fundraiser for the school year is our Walk-A-Thon that will be held on Wednesday, October 2nd at MRE.  We will be collecting throughout the month of September with our “Kick Off” Assembly taking place for your child on Tuesday, September 3rd.  Our PTO will send home more information after the assembly!

  • If you have not done so already, please download the Fort  Zumwalt app! It's everything Fort Zumwalt, in your pocket.  You can find more information on our website.

Thank you for a tremendous start to the school year.  We can not wait to see what great things will happen this year at MRE with our students.

Sincerely,

Mr. Justin Musgrove
