🌼 There's no school Friday March 20 - Friday March 27. 🌼 We hope everyone has a wonderful break! 🌼

Anything look familiar?
We have gathered quite the collection of hoodies, jackets & sweatshirts along with a few water bottles, lunch boxes, hats & gloves. Take a 👀 peek 👀 and if you see anything belonging to your student, let them know they have an item to pick up. Additionally, P.E. has their own lost & found for items left in the gyms.

Why Wear Green on St. Patrick's Day?
According to Irish American folklore, wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns, who pinch anyone they see. The color green also symbolizes ☘️ Ireland's national flower ☘️. DMS students are certainly showing off their green today. We hope they all find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow! 🪙🌈🪙

Computer Science for Innovators
A group of students attended a Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) field trip to General Motors to learn more about careers in STEM. The students participated in hands-on activities, asked questions, and discovered how creativity and problem-solving are important in these fields. By the end of the trip, many students felt motivated to explore future careers in science and engineering. 🌟🔬👩🔬

Battle of the Bands
Congratulations to our 7th & 8th grade band who performed at Battle of the Bands last night. Each piece highlighted the musicians' hard work, skill and teamwork developed throughout the year. They even brought our Eastside community together to enjoy live music and support our performing arts programs.

NJHS Food Drive Results
NJHS organized a food drive to support families in our school community. Students donated non-perishable items to make different meals depending on what grade they were in. As a result of those donations, we were able to make 41 complete meals which will be able to feed 5 families for an entire week. This food drive is just one example of how our school community can work together to help others and make a positive difference. Thank you to those who participated.

Spirit Day
Today's Spirit Day Theme was Favorite Book / Show / Movie Character. We saw everything from Superman to Elphaba, manga to video game characters. Next week's Spirit Day is Inside Out Day!

Last Call for the Spring Book Fair
Monday, March 9th, is the last day to visit the DMS Spring Book Fair. Did you know, for every book purchased students get a raffle ticket to enter for a chance to win prizes? The sucker pull is a fan favorite where for $0.25 you pull a sucker that may win a raffle ticket or prize from the prize box. Load up those eWallets over the weekend and head in for a visit on Monday!

Bingo Night
We had such a great turn out last night for our second annual Bingo Night! Great prizes, friendly competition and plenty of laughter made the evening memorable for everyone. Special shout out to all the student volunteers and staff members that donated their time to make this event successful.

Choir Concert
Last night, our choir program had the opportunity to perform with Fort Zumwalt East's choir. Together they filled the auditorium with bright, confident voices that showcased their hard work throughout the year.

Spring Book Fair 3/2-3/9
Get ready for the Scholastic Book Fair, where every page turns into an adventure and every book unlocks a new world! Visit our school library from March 2nd - 9th to discover bestselling stories, fun stationery, and books for every kind of reader. The Book Fair will be open during Bingo Night on March 5th, and you can always shop online! Please make sure your student comes prepared with cash, credit card, check or an eWallet as students cannot have their phones out during the school day to pay.

NJHS Food Drive Underway
Yesterday kicked off our food drive where each grade is collecting items to make different meals. 6th grade is responsible for chili, 7th is tacos and 8th is chicken alfredo. At the end of the week items will be counted so we can determine which grade donated the most complete meals. After day one, it looks like 6th grade is currently in the lead. We're excited to see the table fill up throughout the week!

Spirit Day
Today's Spirit Day Theme was Rhyme Without a Reason and our students did not disappoint! We saw some of the most creative combos and are excited to share some of our favorites.
